W&WW: VALENTINES DAY

You know it’s that time of the year again when every store window display is full of chocolates, flowers, and teddy bears, oh my! It tends to be a day people anxiously anticipate either because they’re excited or the opposite - they’re so over it and wish they had a fast forward button. Obviously it’s a day to celebrate your significant other, but for the singles out there, I like to look at it as a day to reflect on self love, or other relationships in your life, such as family and friends that are just as special. Regardless of who you’re celebrating, love is love, and a day that represents this shouldn’t make you cringe, but rather appreciate all the good in your life. Especially when it gives you an excuse to get dressed up and treat yourself!

When you think of Valentines Day, the two most popular colors have to be red and pink, the colors of love! Here’s a quick Color Theory rundown from my college days..

Red is a primary color, by adding white you create the tint that is Pink. In the past it was considered a fashion faux pas to combine the two, but today it has become one of the most popular trends seen all over the runway. Introduce color blocking: a method of combining two to three different colors together to make a bold statement. The options are truly endless - pair them as bright color tones, or with opposite primary colors, or with neutral color tones.

Don’t run from this trend, embrace it! A pink body suit paired with a red pencil skirt, red trousers paired with a bright pink coat, or even a pink dress with a red floral or polka dot pattern! Experiment with these trendy love colors not only for Valentines day, but every day! The classics never go out of style as well - a body hugging red dress is perfect for the occasion and screams romance. A comfy pink sweater, jeans and over the knee boots is super flirty! Oh and you can’t forget to bring out your seductive side with lingerie to end the night off right ;)

Valentines Day and relationship status aside, throwing on a sexy outfit and some high heels makes any girl feel invincible. It’s not only a great way to show off to your man, but a reminder to yourself that you’re an amazing catch for whatever the future may bring!
