Suddenly the air becomes crisp and a chill creeps down your spine. The trees come to life with a collection of colors that engulf the landscape. That snug throw blanket finally gets put to good use and festive décor swarms the home. Most importantly, fashion begins to incorporate cozy layers, warm color tones and you get to brush the dust off those thigh high boots that have been patiently waiting for their time to shine. All this can only mean one thing, autumn is finally upon us. And with the fall season comes my favorite holiday celebrations that bring us all together in harmony.
Lets talk Thanksgiving! Can you believe some people begin to prepare for such an occasion of family and food months in advance!? Well I’m here to remind you to add one more item to that extensive checklist of turkey and stuffing. Your Thanksgiving outfit!
Thanksgiving is a day we gather with family and friends we may not be able to see very often. So, lets show off a little and give them something to talk about shall we? Oh, and I’m not talking about your infamous yams here.
When picking out a Thanksgiving outfit there are a few important things to consider:
1. Stay on trend! Try sticking to an autumn color scheme of warmer color tones such as burnt orange, deep burgundy, forest green, mustard yellow or chocolate brown. Just looking outside your window can help you brainstorm some great fashion ideas!
2. It’s the season of boots! Take advantage of this time of year to wear some fun ankle booties with jeans and a cozy sweater. You can also wear knee high/thigh high boots with a flowy dress and pair it with a blazer. The options are endless so lets get creative!
3. Most importantly, dress comfortable!! With all the food being devoured, try wearing garments with plenty of stretch in the fabric or oversized garments that create an edgy look while providing effortless comfort at the same time.
Thanksgiving is a time to embrace our loved ones and ignore the diet, if only for one night. Celebrate the season in textured layers and use the autumn backdrop for inspiration! Take my advice and I can promise you, this year people wont only be asking for your impressive cornbread recipe, but where they can buy your stylish outfit as well.
